David Cassidy hospitalized with organ failure

Cassidy announced early this year he had been diagnosed with dementia.

David Cassidy, "Partridge Family" actor and 70s heartthrob, has been hospitalized and is "surrounded by family", his representative told The Associated Press.

The 67-year-old Partridge Family star was rushed to hospital in Florida three days ago.

David's family have apparently been arriving at the hospital to comfort him. He has been in declining health for a while and has been open about his prior financial and health problems.

Cassidy has spoken publicly in recent years about his struggles with alcohol. Both his kidney and liver are failing, a representative for the actor confirms to EW.

In February, he was a guest on the Dr. Phil show, and talked about falling on stage and forgetting the lyrics to one of his songs during an Agoura Hills, Calif. performance.

Cassidy is best known for his role as Keith Partridge in the '70s TV series and for his career as a pop singer.
