Simpson was a college star at USC, winning the Heisman Trophy in 1968, and was perhaps the top running back in the National Football League in the 1970s while starring for the Buffalo Bills.
Simpson still owes tens of millions of dollars in the wake of a 1997 civil lawsuit, in which he was found liable for the wrongful deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ronald Goldman, and ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the survivors' families. He was reportedly picked up by an unidentified friend.

A Nevada prison official says O.J. Simpson, the former football legend and Hollywood star, has been released from a Nevada prison in Lovelock after serving nine years for armed robbery. Simpson is expected to have at least five years of parole supervision as well other limitations.
Nevada state prisons spokeswoman Brooke Keast told The Associated Press Simpson was released early Sunday.
