Three Westlake officers followed the Toyota for more than 15 miles at high speeds until the boy drove through a tollbooth and entered the westbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike, per a police rep.

Police say the boy took his father's vehicle from his Cleveland home Thursday and led police down I-90 and the Ohio Turnpike.

A ten-year-old boy led police on an 100mph chase after stealing a auto belonging to his mother's boyfriend before school. "He's already wrecked the auto, he needs to stop", she said.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Richard Reeder told the publication the boy refused to cooperate and troopers were forced to pull him out of the auto through the window. After the vehicle the boy was driving came to a complete stop, officers ran over to that auto door, broke the window and removed the boy from the auto.

Fearful for the safety of other motorists, the Ohio State Highway Patrol laid out spike strips, which they say slowed the boy down significantly.

The boy then starting driving on Interstate 80, where a trooper motioned for the boy to stop as he pulled alongside him.

After detaining the boy, his mother informed police this was the second time in two weeks he had taken a family member's auto.

The highway patrol set off in pursuit. Troopers eventually boxed him in, according to Cleveland.com, with one cruiser striking the back driver's side and turning him into another cruiser to end the chase.

"When we were able to get him out of the vehicle he was very agitated". He tried to spit in their faces and kicked one trooper in the shin, News 5 reported. This time, he was taken to a hospital with a legal guardian and will be placed in the custody of Erie County child services after being evaluated; no word yet on possible criminal charges. When asked why he did it, the boy said he "was bored and chose to go for a joyride".
