Vance Joseph isn't yet ready to declare a victor in the race to be Denver's starting quarterback between Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian.

Another Broncos' first-round pick, offensive tackle Garett Bolles, took a step back in his second game after a solid performance last week at Chicago.

Lynch was 9 of 13 and showed good pocket presence by scrambling out of trouble a few times, but managed only 39 yards through the air in less than two quarters.

Siemian likely closed the deal Saturday night when he came in against the San Francisco 49ers with just over three minutes remaining in the first half and led the Broncos on a seven-play, 53-yard touchdown drive.

Kyle Sloter: 7-for-7, 50 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT, 0 sacks.

Siemian has won the statistical battle, for what that's worth in the preseason, going 14 of 18 for 144 yards to Lynch's 15 of 22 for 81 yards and generally doing a better job of moving the offense down the field.

"I think so", Siemian told reporters after the game.

"I'm not sure, once we watch this tape and see where we are with that", Joseph said on KUSA's television broadcast. He completed 59.5 percent of his passes for 3,401 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. "Our time frame is not important, but getting it right is".

Among projected Week 1 starters, Siemian's quarterback rating of 118.5 over the last two weeks ranks 11th. "I'm not the coach but I think so". He hasn't thrown an interception.
