Pakistan summons Indian envoy over ceasefire violations

He said a mortar shell landed near the house of Territorial Army jawan Mohammad Showkat in Karmara village near the LoC.

They died in Gulpur area, police said.

Two civilians, including a girl, were martyred and three injured due to unprovoked firing by Indian forces at the Line of Control (LoC), the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.

Indian troops are giving a befitting reply to the indiscriminate firing. The Defence Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told media outlets, "The firing which started from 6.30 a.m., is ongoing and our forces are effectively retaliating".

India countered Pakistan's allegations that India violated the ceasefire along the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

A couple was killed as Pakistan fired heavily in forward villages and Indian posts on the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

After the militant attack, army men laid siege around the area and conducted combing and search operation to nab the attackers.

The Indian firing and shelling occurred a day after the first martyrdom anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani was observed with the renewed pledge to continue his mission till the success of Kashmir liberation struggle.
