Although JD (U) meeting has been convened to discuss election of the President, it is said the party President Nitish Kumar will also discuss the ongoing political situation following the CBI raids on Lalu Prasad and his family members.

Despite opposition's demand, the RJD as well as Lalu Prasad have ruled out the possibility of Tejashwi's resignation.

However, it was still unclear whether she had asked Lalu Prasad to ask his son to quit to save the alliance from breaking.

On Saturday, Tejashwi Yadav had skipped an official event with Nitish Kumar.

The development comes as the Tejashwi Yadav continuation as the Deputy CM has been under scrutiny by after being named by CBI in its FIR in a corruption case.

If Congress' mediation succeeds, we may expect this outcome. Senior JD (U) leader and the party's Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav is leading the charge against Mr Kumar. They were a conspiracy hatched by BJP President Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he told the media.

Hence, Nitish knows well that if he steps out of the grand alliance in Bihar, it would be a BJP versus Lalu-Congress fight and Nitish would be no where in the poll fray. Sonia reportedly intervened at the instance of JD (U) leaders, who wanted to see that the issue does not precipitate the crisis further. RJD's ally Janata Dal (United) is apparently anxious about the possible damage to its leader and chief minister Nitish Kumar's image as a "clean leader" in view of the developments.

Later, Industries minister and JD (U) leader Jai Kumar Singh said that the CM changed his seat in order to have a better view of the screen (TV monitor) fitted in front of him.

Lalu, on his return from Ranchi late on Friday night after appearing in courts in connection with fodder scam cases, had categorically said that Tejashwi would not resign and claimed that the case against him was "politically motivated".

BJP sought to steer clear of the acrimony between the two ruling allies saying it is not going to extend inside or outside support if JD (U) severs ties with RJD. Since, Lalu's sons were newbie in politics, both Congress and Lalu had no better leader than Nitish Kumar to present before the voters of Bihar.
