Active search underway for triple shooting suspect in Gardendale

Authorities arrived at the Peachtree Crossings mobile home park to find three victims dead from gunshot wounds, police said.

His auto was found off of Glenn Chapel Road, on the backside of the mobile home park.

Authorities identified thes suspect as Kenneth Dion Lever, who was able to escape into the nearby woods after the fatal shooting unfolded in Gardendale just before 8 a.m. Police continued to search for the gunman into the afternoon and advised the public to phone 911 instead of approaching him because "he is considered armed and unsafe".

Police said Lever is "armed and dangerous", and asked anyone who sees him not to approach and inform the police.

Lever may be traveling in a black Lincoln Navigator with a Florida tag, "689NFN".

Police officers from Gardendale, Fultondale, Kimberly, Warrior and Birmingham, along with members of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency were joined at the scene by agents from the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force.

In that case, a 6-year-old victim at the time accused Lever of sexually assaulting her beginning in June 2005, the York Dispatch reported.

Lever was booked in Santa Rosa County in 2015 for an out-of-state fugitive warrant that originated from York, Pennsylvania on charges related to a child sex crime.

According to the York Dispatch report, the girl told police that she was molested in the basement of Lever's home in Lower Windsor and also in the upstairs.

The Lower Windsor Township Police Department also arrested Lever in two separate sexual assault cases on September 28 and October 13, 2015, according the York Daily Record. She claimed that he was stalking and harassing her and her 11-year-old daughter.

He is current free on $200,000 bond in those cases.

Adding, 'She is very clingy to me and will not let me leaver her. Lever was held on $100,000 bail in the first case and posted it, being released from York County Prison afterward.
