Robert Becker, who oversaw Sanders' campaign in Iowa and other key states, said none of the campaign field organizers in Iowa or IL could remember a volunteer named James Hodgkinson.

James shot and wounded United States House of Representatives Majority Whip and representative for Louisiana's 1st, Steve Scalise, who was at the second base area during a Republican baseball practice in Alexandria.
Mr DeSantis said he was "not really a friendly guy", but it was "not enough that I thought he was going to go commit acts of violence".
In a press conference, President Trump announced the shooting suspect has died from his injuries. Trump has destroyed our democracy. As of the writing of this post, that has yet to be confirmed.

"I yelled, 'Quit shooting toward the houses, '" Schaumleffel said.
Evanko said there was nothing that stood out to him to indicate Hodgkinson would do something like Wednesday's shooting, but that he did seem like a bit of a "misanthrope" and "not terribly personable", and had an attitude of "this is how I do things and I should be able to do them my way".
Hodgkinson had a history of violence. Hodgkinson used a pocket knife to cut the friend's seat belt and punched that woman in the face. Battery charges against Hodgkinson and his wife were later dismissed. Two Capitol Police officers, who were part of Scalise's security detail, were also injured in the shooting.
"We are strongest when we are unified and we work together for the common good", Trump said. "America is praying for you, and praying for all the victims".
According to a police report obtained by NBC News, officers in Hodgkinson's hometown responded to reports of "shots fired" involving the man in March.
