Osinbajo Excitement as Acting President visits Calabar

The royal father and patriarch of the Efik Kingdom who spoke in Calabar on Thursday when the acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo visited the State, also lamented the loss of Bakassi Peninsular to Cameroon.

"We are greater when we are together than when we are apart".

He said that the industrial hub, which encapsulates Calaparm, rice city, garment factory among others, would fast-track economic growth and development of the state.

He said the importance accorded to Nigeria by other nations of the world is chiefly for its diversity, adding that the Federal Government will continue to do everything to ensure the unity of the country.

The Federal Government has pledged full support for the proposed Cross River 275km Super Highway and the Bakassi Deep Seaport.

He said: "Unity is very important". When people speak of Nigeria, it is because of its diversity.

He said that the federal government is interested in Cross River state and it is the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to partner with states to create opportunities for its citizens.

On his arrival, Professor Osinbajo proceeded to the palace of the Obong of Calabar, and later to the sites of some completed projects in the state capital.

According to a statement by the Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade, the President will be on hand to witness the achievements made so far in his two-year administration, which includes an eponymous industrial park, a Convention Centre, Monorail and a Power plant.

The Obong advocated the involvement of traditional institutions in the governance of the country due to their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
