While fringe groups like Naam Tamilar Katchi of actor Seeman have blasted Rajinikanth and said he should not enter politics, a relatively unknown outfit called Tamilar Munnetra Padai announced it would picket Rajikinath today. Security was beefed up at Rajinikanth's house thereafter.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Su Thirunavukkarasar said that he believes Rajinikanth will not join any national or regional political party but will only float his own party.

Rajinikanth's remarks hinting that he may be readying plans to join politics has triggered huge speculations.

This meeting is the talk of the town in political circles and political pundits feel that Rajinikanth has apparently made his mind on joining politics finally after keeping them guessing for over two decades. His statement was touted to be in reference to Sasikala taking the reins of AIADMK.

Asked about superstar Rajinikanth throwing hints at his entry to politics, BJP state chief said it was wrong for anyone to say BJP would gain strength if he does, "as the party is already a force to reckon with in Tamil Nadu".
