I can think of no better way to conclude our first foreign trip than to spend time with you.

While in Israel, Trump was the first sitting U.S. president to visit the Western Wall.

"President Trump's continued waffling on whether to stay in or withdraw from the Paris Agreement made it impossible to reach consensus at the [G-7] summit on the need for ambitious climate action".

Leaders from the G-7 countries were expected to gather at the San Domenico Palace Hotel on Saturday morning. He will also participate in a meeting with small African nations. The gold belt was the first of many belts in the trip.

After the G-7 summit of economically advanced countries, the president will address American troops on an Italian base before departing for home.

Almost every nation that signed the 2015 agreement has agreed to curb greenhouse gas emissions.

President Donald Trump will return to Washington having rattled some allies and reassured others, but his White House still sits under a cloud of scandal.

In Europe, Trump made a stop at the Vatican, where he was received by Pope Francis, travelled on to Brussels to participate in a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders summit, and then headed to the Sicilian city of Taormina for the G7 meeting.

Now that he's back in Washington, he will have to confront the latest developments in the federal investigation into members of his campaign's potential collusion with Russian officials during the 2016 election.

US President Donald Trump has ended his nine-day maiden overseas journey in dramatic fashion, addressing US troops at a campaign-style rally and declaring the trip a "home run". Leaders of the G7 meet Friday and Saturday, including newcomers Emmanuel Macron of France and Theresa May of Britain in an effort to forge a new dynamic after a year of global political turmoil amid a rise in nationalism. German Chancellor Angela Merkel is second from left, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is at center.

The G7 leaders committed themselves Saturday to the fight against protectionism and to defending the opening of markets after the United States overcame its reluctance to include that condition in the final statement, which the leaders signed and sealed at the end of the two-day summit in the Sicilian city of Taormina.

In a hangar at Naval Air Station Sigonella, which is also on Sicily, Trump was introduced by his wife Melania, who has raised eyebrows during the trip by twice flicking away her husband's hand when he tried to hold hers.

"We traveled the world to strengthen longstanding alliances, and to form a new partnership among nations devoted to the task of eradicating the terrorism that plagues our planet", Trump said. "US!" as the Air Force One movie soundtrack played in the background.
