And even though Wilkerson didn't quite hit the 18 million mark, Wendy's chose to go ahead and give him the free nuggets for a year.

Admittedly, Wilkerson's response, "consider it done", hasn't reached that particular goal yet.

Teenager Carter Wilkerson just dethroned Ellen DeGeneres' famous Oscar selfie for the most retweeted tweet. "A man needs his nuggs". Eighteen million is pretty near impossible: The reigning retweet record holder was Ellen DeGeneres, whose 2014 Oscars selfie-showing the talk show host flanked by the likes of Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and other A-list celebs-has garnered an impressive 3.4 million retweets so far. Wendy's said that the goal was 18 million. This week, Wilkerson finally surpassed Ellen, and the Guinness Book of World Records acknowledged that he was the lone champion of retweets. Twitter pointed to Wilkerson's chicken nugget plea in its first quarter letter to shareholders, noting that the social media site is the "best place for advertisers to drive brand perception". What he may not have known was that his inquiry would become the most retweeted tweet of all time.
