The decision to use the White House call to the ISS to excite young Americans about the space frontier, coheres with President Trump's earlier speech promoting NASA and evoking Kennedy's space program.
President Donald Trump, First Daughter Ivanka Trump and NASA astronaut Kate Rubins will make a special Earth-to-space call Monday from the Oval Office to personally congratulate NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson for her record-breaking stay aboard the International Space Station.
The announcement was made on April 18 by NASA officials.

Whitson will break the record for the longest cumulative time spent in space by a USA astronaut.
She is bound to surpass the record previously established by Jeff Williams of 534 days.
Whitson is already America's most experienced female spacewalker, with 53 hours 22 minutes of EVA time during eight previous excursions.

The last time when a two-person crew was sent or the ISS was in April 2003, when Ed Lu of NASA and Yuri Malenchenko of Roscosmos were boosted into the orbit using a Soyuz TMA-2.
"John Glenn was probably responsible for more students studying math and science and being interested in space than anyone", said former astronaut Brian Duffy, Orbital ATK's vice president of Exploration Systems.
NASA officials also declared that they are prone to post the video, being available all over the United States, in museums, schools and all over the world. ED also provides a resource document on STEM education, early learner materials, and computer science resources.
The unmanned commercial spacecraft, on its seventh contracted resupply mission for NASA, was grappled by a robotic arm operated by astronauts inside the space station at 6:05 a.m. EDT (1005 GMT), the USA space agency said.More news: Elizabeth Thomas With Family & Friends; Cummins Family Issues Statement
