Afternoon snow showers followed by messy midday on Tuesday

Light snow is falling across South Jersey Monday morning, but will be lighter than expected as the steadier snow is remaining to the south over DE and Maryland.

Expect to see some snow Tuesday.

Sunday will be another calm day with a westerly wind blowing and some clouds, the National Weather Service said. Light north wind becoming northwest 5 to 10 miles per hour in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Both communities could receive 10 to 14 inches of snow Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.

"Again, flurries and very light accumulation is expected Tuesday and Wednesday, but it's safe to say that winter is back", Roche added.

Meteorologist Chelsea Ingram says models suggest that a coating to an inch (to perhaps 2 inches) of snow can accumulate around Baltimore, but more likely in areas south.

But the daytime high Tuesday could get past 40 degrees, turning the precipitation to rain.

Sunday's high in Madison was 26 at 12:02 a.m., 1 degree below the normal high and 28 degrees below the record high of 54 for January 29, set in 2013. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

"Across the rest of the region, it will be dry but colder then what we have experienced most of this month". Snowfall around 1 inch.

With the west-east gradient, we will need to watch for a weak light snow maker zipping through here late Thursday into Friday.
